The Texas Department of Transportation (USA) carried out an unusual road-clearing operation.
The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that an 18-wheeler truck overturned on the highway after the driver lost control. The driver and passenger were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, and while their lives were not in danger, the cargo caused quite a stir.
The issue was that the vehicle had been transporting 8 million freshly minted dimes, which ended up scattered across the road. It’s easy to calculate that the total amounted to $800,000 spilled on the highway.
The road was closed for several hours as crews from the Department of Transportation worked to collect the loose change. Hopefully, not a single coin went missing.
