Musk called the WSJ article about searching for his replacement as Tesla CEO a lie

American businessman Elon Musk commented on a Wall Street Journal (WSJ) article stating that Tesla is looking for his replacement as CEO. Mr. Musk labeled this information as deliberately false. The company itself also did not confirm the WSJ’s reports.

“This is a gross violation of ethics that WSJ published a willfully false article and did not include a clear denial from Tesla’s board of directors!” — Mr. Musk wrote on his account on the social network X. He added that WSJ “discredits journalism.”

Tesla also described the publication as “erroneous.” “This is an absolute lie (and it was reported to the media before the publication of the report). The CEO of Tesla is Elon Musk, and the board of directors is fully confident in his ability to continue implementing the company’s growth plan,” — stated the chair of Tesla, Robyn Denholm.

In its publication, WSJ cited unnamed sources. According to them, Tesla’s management considered searching for a successor for Elon Musk about a month ago. This decision was allegedly made after a drop in the company’s stock and due to some investors’ frustration with Mr. Musk’s focus on work in the White House. Since January, he has been heading the Office of Management and Budget by order of President Donald Trump.
