Musk called the WSJ article about seeking his replacement as Tesla CEO a lie

American businessman Elon Musk commented on a Wall Street Journal (WSJ) article stating that Tesla is looking for a replacement for him as CEO. Mr. Musk labeled this information as deliberately false. The company itself also did not confirm the WSJ’s claims.

“It is a gross violation of ethics for the WSJ to publish a deliberately false article and not include an unequivocal denial from Tesla’s board of directors!” Mr. Musk wrote on his account on the social network X. He added that the WSJ “discredits journalism.”

Tesla also referred to the publication as “erroneous.” “This is an absolute lie (and it was communicated to the media prior to the publication of the report). The CEO of Tesla is Elon Musk, and the board of directors is fully confident in his ability to continue executing the company’s growth plan,” said a statement from Tesla Chairperson Robyn Denholm.

In its publication, the WSJ referred to unnamed sources. According to them, Tesla’s management began considering seeking a successor for Elon Musk about a month ago. This decision was allegedly made after the company’s stock fell and due to some investors’ irritation regarding Mr. Musk’s focus on working in the White House. Since January, he has been leading the Office of Efficiency in Government at the direction of President Donald Trump.
