Musk called the WSJ article about the search for his replacement as Tesla’s CEO a lie

American businessman Elon Musk commented on the article from The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) stating that the company Tesla is looking for a replacement for him as CEO. Mr. Musk labeled this information as deliberately false. The company itself did not confirm the WSJ’s claims either.

“It is a gross violation of ethics for the WSJ to publish a deliberately false article and not include a clear denial from Tesla’s board of directors!” Mr. Musk wrote on his account on the social network X. He added that the WSJ “discredits journalism.”

Tesla also called the publication “erroneous.” “This is an absolute lie (and it was communicated to the media before the report was published). The CEO of Tesla is Elon Musk, and the board of directors is fully confident in his ability to continue implementing the company’s growth plan,” said a statement from Tesla’s chair Robyn Denholm.

The WSJ cited unnamed sources in its publication. According to them, Tesla’s management began considering the search for Elon Musk’s successor about a month ago. This decision allegedly came after the company’s stock decline and due to some investors’ irritation over Mr. Musk’s focus on his work in the White House. Since January, he has been heading the Office of Management and Budget at the direction of President Donald Trump.
