Musk called the WSJ article about searching for his replacement as Tesla CEO a lie

American businessman Elon Musk commented on the article from The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) stating that Tesla is seeking a replacement for him as CEO. Mr. Musk labeled this information as deliberately false. The company itself also did not confirm the WSJ’s information.

“It is a gross violation of ethics for WSJ to publish a deliberately false article and not include a clear denial from Tesla’s board of directors!” — Mr. Musk wrote on his account on the social media platform X. He added that WSJ “discredits journalism.”

Tesla also described the publication as “erroneous.” “This is absolute lies (and this was reported to the media before the publication of the report). The CEO of Tesla is Elon Musk, and the board of directors has complete confidence in his ability to continue implementing the company’s growth plan,” said the statement from Tesla Chairman Robyn Denholm.

In its publication, WSJ cited unnamed sources. According to them, Tesla’s management had started contemplating a search for Elon Musk’s successor about a month ago. This decision was allegedly made after the company’s stock fell and due to some investors’ irritation regarding Mr. Musk’s focus on his work at the White House. Since January, he has led the Office of Management and Budget by order of President Donald Trump.
